Visakhapatnam Chapter – Workshop, July 13, 2019

One day National Workshop on
“Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for English Teachers”

ELTAI, Visakhapatnam Chapter, in collaboration with Visakha Government Degree College for Women, organised a one day National workshop on “Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for English Teachers”on 13th July, 2019 at Visakha Government Degree College for Women, Visakhapatnam.

The workshop was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Sri. PVN Madhav, Member of the Legislative Council. Prof. C. Pradgna, Chapter Patron, Dr. C. Raghavendra, Chapter President and Workshop Convener, Dr. S. Shobha Rani, Workshop Patron and Principal, Visakha Govt. Degree College for Women, Resource persons Dr. ReddiSekhar Reddy – Vice President, ELTAI National Committee, Mr. Paul Armstrong –renowned Language Trainer, Workshop Coordinators Dr. Ch. Swathi, Chapter Vice-president, Ms. P.Padma Priya,Head, Department of English, VisakhaGovt. Degree college for Women, and Chapter Committee members were present.

The Inaugural started by Dr. C. Raghavendra, Convener, ELTAI Chapter, with a welcome note to all the participants, the English Teaching Tribe. He reiterated the important role of English teachers in the current scenario and he listed out the objectives of the workshop. As he mentioned that the workshop aims at highlighting the perspectives and practices of CPD that help teachers meet the challenges of their work and achieve their goals.

The Chief Guest Sri. PVN Madhav, Member of the Legislative Council, officially inaugurated the Visakhapatnam Chapter and the Chapter’s maiden workshop. He said that English language is a fundamental means of communication across the globe and English teachers play a vital role in molding the learners to meet the needs.

This was followed by the Workshop Patron’s, Dr.S Shobha Rani, speech where she commended the teachers of English in instilling values along with imparting the language skills in students. Sheappealed to the professionals to help improve language proficiency of students from Telugu medium background and instill confidence in them in using the language. The Chapter Patron, Prof. C. Pradgna, emphasised the need of Continuous Professional Development and mentioned how the workshop will benefit the languageprofessionals to explore inventive means and methods of teaching English.

The Inaugural was followed by the first session by Dr. G. ReddiSekhar Reddy who explored various avenues pertaining to professional development. The second session was by Mr. Paul Armstrong who …..

The workshop ended with the Valedictory ceremony with the felicitation of Resource Persons and distribution of certificates the Resource Persons and the participants.The programme ended with a vote of thanks.

The workshop was a success with more than 90 registrations. The Patron commended the efforts of the Organising Committee.
